  • Why You Should Hire a Wedding Videographer

How to best capture those beautiful moments beyond a single framed picture A wedding can be the most defining moment of a person's life: that special day where all eyes are on you and your partner, sealing your love for the rest of your lives. Time is fleeting and, naturally, we want to capture these moments as best we can. CLICK! FLASH! Now you have but one second in a photo captured ... But what if I told you you could have so much more? Wedding films can often do what photographs cannot, capture moments rather than instances. Why not have BOTH at your wedding! Wedding videography is a fairly new art making its way to the scene that Book Two Productions is proud to specialize in. We are here to make sure every beat of your wedding day is captured, putting together a narrative film that tells the story of your love. They say it's the little things, right? Rather than just the key moments of your day, highlight every aspect from start to finish, dawn til' dusk, from getting ready in the morning to cutting the cake before your sendoff. This day is yours to celebrate! Let yourself relish in these memories endlessly for the rest of your life through your wedding film as you listen to your vow exchange, watch your spousal kiss, and perk up at your first dance. If you're still on the fence, think about how beautiful it'd be to rewatch the story of your love 20 or 30 years down the line: a film you can show your friends, family, and children. Film and video have the ability to capture beyond the photographer's instance. Get ready to relive every moment as it played out on your special day. Are you getting married along the beautiful coast of Long Island? The wondrous forests of Northern New Jersey? A homey barn wedding in the fields of South Jersey? We've got you COVERED! Literally! B2P's full coverage wedding packages provide you with aerial cinematography upon request, two camera-coverage for cross-shooting, individual microphones for crisp clean audio capture, and eight hours of filming, making sure we capture every single one of those show-stopping and heart-fluttering moments. • How High Can You Fly?

A beginner's quick-start guide to aerial drone photography and cinematography DRONES! You either love em' or hate em'. Regardless, we all have to admit these powerful little tools (as complicated as they can be) can sure provide us with the most stunning videos from way up above. I'll preface this by saying I am by no means a veteran flyer yet, but I'm here to give you the rundown of the best tips and tricks I've learned in the first year and a half of my piloting experience from B2P weddings, indie films, and promotional reels, galore. Let's get started! 1. RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH! Although I WISH every drone body was for everyone, unfortunately ... it's not. There are TONS of drones out there ranging from FPVs to multi-rotors, fixed-wings; YOU NAME IT! That all probably sounded like a load of gibberish for some of you, but when first choosing a drone, you'll need to do some research. Ask yourself: are you looking for more manual control or a nice stable starter for landscape portraiture? Whichever the case, do your research and put in the time to find which type of drone would be best for you. For me, I wanted something easy with KILLER picture quality. I started with the DJI Mini 2, capable of producing 4k aerial photos and videos. This small, but powerful piece of tech weighs in at less than 249g, meaning you don't have to register it with the FAA for off-the-grid flying. It's got a Level 5 Wind Resistance grade, meaning it can resist up to 38 kph winds, taking off at a max altitude of 4,000 meters with tons of other features included. I think it's the perfect starter drone for someone looking to get their hands dirty doing aerial cinematography, but if you're looking for something a little more advanced ... by all means fly away! 2. Learn the terminology! Yaws, pitches, rolls ... OH MY! Whether you're a fighter pilot or a secondary drone op, these terms need to make their way into your everyday lingo. Now, you don't need to go about memorizing everything as you would for a sixth-grade vocabulary test, but getting familiar with the terminology will help you out in the long run. Chances are you've got a grasp on basic camera movements, so adding drone phrases to the mix won't be too complicated. Here are some basic ones below and what they mean and do: YAW - like a PAN, turning right and left PITCH - like a TILT, where the drone tilts forward and backward ROLL - like a TRUCK, moving side to side Again, there are LOADS of phrases to learn along the way. If you're interested in tackling more than just the basics, you can check out this awesome glossary put together by DSLRpros.com, giving you an A-Z breakdown of the most important terms to help you become a piloting pro! 3. Find which settings work best for you! Like an artist would a painting, make your drone YOUR OWN! Factory settings sure are nice to get you ready for your first flight, but take a look at all the internal settings on your drone to create the most tailored flying experience for you. You may find you feel more comfortable shooting in 1080p to start, rather than 4K to save up as much storage space as you can. Or maybe, you want the full tilt range of your camera in your 3-axis drone. The possibilities are ENDLESS! People moan and groan about reading instruction manuals and toggling through your settings, but as a prospective drone pilot, doing this will help you better acquaint yourself with your aerial controls. The last thing a pilot needs is to not understand the piece of equipment they're flying. 4. Practice in open areas when you're first starting out! All those years of playing video games can only help you so much when operating the controller. You NEED to practice. I'll get this one out of the way. I and every other drone pilot in the world will tell you ... YOU. WILL. CRASH. And that's okay! It's normal and it happens more frequently than you think. The best place to fly when you're freshly new to the flying crop is an open field with minimal obstacles. You'll need to familiarize yourself with how your drone moves, getting used to its wind resistance and sensitivity. The more freely you can fly around at the start, the quicker you'll be acquainted with your drone. Better to crash in an open area than a tree that swallows your drone whole! 5. Take to the skies as much as you can! Practice makes perfect (literally)! If you're not flying around, you're not gaining experience. A lot of what makes up drone flying is practical, so be sure to get out there and fly as much as possible. This is the best advice I can give you! Try things that scare you as you become more comfortable with your drone. Test out different altitudes, camera modes, and flying speeds to capture those stunning, cinematic shots from high up above. • Vintage Edits are IN!

Why YOU should opt for the "retro look" in your next video edit! Listen ... I love a good lens flare as much as anybody, so you'll be happy to hear I'll be doting on them CONSTANTLY throughout this post. You could call it a part of my own personal editing style, or better yet (as more editors incorporate it into their pieces) the resurgence of retro-influenced content creation. In other words, vintage edits are IN, baby! And they're not going away any time soon! I first picked up on the emerging trend while scrolling through my Instagram Reels feed last September. I follow LOADS of content creators, cinematographers, and editors online. At this point, I feel like my feed is basically the equivalent to a video creator's encyclopedia. Getting to watch all their different editing styles contrasting one another is so fascinating as a young content creator myself ... but I started to notice a string of similarities that connected them. Lens flares and VHS-style transitions, glitch effects on graphics layers, film burns and film leader screen overlays connecting shot-to-shot ... it felt like I was being transported to the 90s! Grain and film noise were being stylized and scratches were being welcomed with open arms. The push for crisp clean footage was no longer a necessity. Online, the beauty of grit and imperfection was now being embraced. Some of my favorite video creators had now been branding their content to have a more vintage feel, upping the color contrast and saturation in all their digital media. And guess what? It warranted TONS of viewer engagement. 150k likes ... 1,000+ comments per post just on Instagram Reels alone? Social media users are really eating this content up. Even app developers globally are finding ways to emulate the retro-digital and analog aesthetics for your photos and videos. This trend inspired me to incorporate these vintage elements into my own work, helping me distinguish my own personal editing style. I tried it out on a video "A Love Letter to the Memories I'd Forgotten" which was my first deep dive into this retro-editing aesthetic. I'd come across some old footage on my first video camera, a JVC Everio 2012 digital camcorder. The footage was of a trip I'd taken to New York City several years back, but the memories still held strong and true. I added some old-fashioned radio-style narration to seal the deal, not doing much to the footage; just adding cuts and transitions. This short, minute-long piece came out more beautiful than I'd imagined. It wasn't perfect in terms of cinematography, of course, from my teen-hood, but it was raw and real ... all the reason to continue creating this type of content. If that isn't enough of a reason to hook you into joining the vintage editing club, the nostalgia surely will. If not for someone else, then for yourself. • B2P: The Next Chapter of Creativity in Visual Media

Welcome to the Collective! Enjoy your stay! If you told me a few years ago that I'd be starting my own production company fresh out of college, I'd laugh in your face. CUT TO: June 2021 - CONTINUOUS. Nerys decides to incorporate! What I'd thought was a way to grab some pocket change in undergrad had just turned into a creative business endeavor fueled by my passions. I started off filming weddings, saving up for my own equipment along the way and expanding my collection to suiting my own hub ... minus the studio space for now. Eventually, I began producing my own side projects ... But I had the urge to do SO MUCH MORE! Everything I'd cultivated in college, my love for cinematography and editing down to my producing and directing skills, all came to my aid in building this company: Book Two Productions LLC (B2P). I wanted to create a collective, producing the next chapter of creativity in visual media through cinematic storytelling and content creation. Moreover, as a young BIPOC female filmmaker, I needed to help this next generation of creatives tell the stories otherwise untold as my mentors have helped me do. So here I am on a mission to do exactly that. We may be young, but I'll tell you: we are FIERCE. B2P is here to provide our audiences with content of the highest caliber and quality, going above and beyond the needs of our clients. Whether you're looking for wedding films, tech reviews and advice, promotional reels, portrait photography, editing services, or the backbone of your next indie film: we've got you covered. B2P is OFFICIALLY open for business, ready to take your media content requests to the next level where your expression meets impression.
